Localizer 16R - Hamad International Airport

In March 2023, our team at AviNeering was busy completing a complex project at Hamad International Airport! We were tasked with rebuilding the NORMARC 24-element localizer antenna system at runway 16L and 16R, to a NORMARC 32-element antenna system.

The entire operation was successfully accomplished within a period of four weeks. During that time, our work included extending the existing foundation for both runways, dismantling the old antenna system, and installing, commissioning and calibrating the NORMARC 32-element localizer for runway 16L. We're proud to announce that the Localizer 16L installation is complete and operational.

This upgrade to a NORMARC 32-element localizer antenna system, also known as the NORMARC ultrawide localizer, provides Hamad International Airport with improved precision and accuracy, ultimately leading to safer and more efficient aircraft landings – increasing the overall capacity at the airport.

We're looking forward to completing the Localizer 16R installation, commissioning and calibration which is planned after summer 2023.
